LOCAL GUIDE

ABDULLAH SALMI

Abdullah “Abdul,” is from a large family with five boys and six girls. When he was younger, they were a nomad family living in the south of Morocco, near the Algerian border. They eventually settled down in the small village of Ighaf-Nighir near Tafraout Sidi Ali. The family still lives there with Abdul’s parents. Abdul began working in tourism as a teenager while studying at Al-Rissani. During school holidays, he would go out to the desert and work in a camp. He has spent many years working in tourism, and currently drives on the Open Doors Morocco team.

When he’s not working, Abdul enjoys learning new things, playing football, and watching movies. When asked about what he likes most about welcoming guests to Morocco, Abdul says he loves to welcome them with “a big smile and with love and respect.” He enjoys sharing food, culture, and information about local areas with the people he meets. Abdul speaks Arabic, Amazigh (Berber dialect), English, French, and Spanish.

Client Feedback:

“Nancy and her in-country hosts were flawless in both planning and execution of our two week trip in Morocco. There were four of us in two cars and we traveled from the Atlantic nearly to the Algerian border and sampled much of Morocco’s terrain and culture. In the planning phase Nancy was unfailingly amiable, available and thorough. In the travel phase Said and Abdul (our local hosts) were wonderful: easy-going, flexible, and very knowledgeable. They were quick to make changes as needed and yet still clear about both options and must-do stops. I recommend Open Doors Morocco in the highest possible terms.” Thomas S. / Boston
