Tiznit
Tiznit is an old fortified medina in the Souss Valley near the Tachilla and Ouarzemimene mountains in the Anti Atlas range. It was originally founded in 1882 as a military base. It was later occupied by French troops in the early 20th century. The town is surrounded by four miles (6 km) of walls.
Tiznit is mainly known for its jewelry, silver and metalworks. The town quickly became a trade center due to its natural resources and jewelry.

Tiznit Medina
The Tiznit medina boasts of souks where Moroccan handicrafts and silver jewelry is sold. The jewelry is crafted by local artisans whose skill has been developed over the generations. In its beginning the trade was established by Jewish silversmiths. Semi-precious stones from the area are often used to offset the silver. Like other Moroccan medinas, Tiznit still has vestiges of its historical Jewish millah.
