“Our trip with Open Doors Morocco was outstanding on every level. From our arrival in Marrakech when we were met at the airport by Said to our departure from Rabat 13 days later, each day brought a new surprise, a new insight, or a new “wow!” It’s obvious that Nancy and Said love Morocco and its people.

My husband and I wanted an in-depth insight into Morocco, and boy, did we get it! Nancy helped us plan a custom itinerary, and she was so patient with us. I usually plan my own trips, but this time we let Nancy and Said take care of all the details. What a luxury! We didn’t have to worry about paying for hotels or negotiating with cabdrivers. Some of the places we stayed were beautiful and luxurious, and some were simple, but every place we stayed was clean, safe, conveniently located, and staffed with friendly hosts. The overnight at the camp was delightful. Our hosts, Ali and Amin, made a delicious dinner and breakfast. They talked with us about what it’s like to be young men growing up in Morocco. They sang and played some instruments, and showed us how to play them as well—and then Ali shared his playlist of favorite Bedouin songs! Their enthusiasm made it a night to remember.

No single event was the highlight of the trip; the highlight was seeing so many sides of Morocco and experiencing a new surprise every day. Of course we saw the souks in Marrakech and Fez, and we rode camels in the desert. But we also learned how to tie a turban, and ate fresh fish near beach-side docks, and watched a goat being auctioned in a local market, and had lunch in the home of a family in a small village.”

I grew up in the American Midwest and consider Morocco my second home. I am a former classroom teacher as well as a mental health practitioner. In addition to running Open Doors Morocco, I work with American and international educational publishers. I am the first to tell you that a trip to Morocco is an amazing life transforming experience.
